Hong Kong Fog
Hong Kong Fog Saturday, January 12 2008 09:04 AM Contributed by: Oliver Views: 0 If you come to Hong Kong in January/February, you might have a sight that is hard to get somewhere in Europe: Thick clouds so low you can touch them, and without climbing a mountain. I am not a meteorologist to know how this happens, but it can become a bit spooky at times. While normally in winter the view in Hong Kong is blocked by thick smog, you will recognize the clouds by the way they crawl over the

Are de-converts doomed to live in the pit of existentialist despair?
Oftentimes, those of us who have left religion behind are asked to define what keeps us going, what motivates us, what rescues us from the pit of existentialist despair now that we no longer believe in god. Some of us do not seem to have much of a positive belief system, others have adopted skepticism or humanism, others excavate their own philosophies of life. A new member of an ex-fundy support group I help moderate addressed this topic recently and his answer was so interesting that I aske

Vitamin B12 Shots to Treat CFS
One of the things that helps me the most is the hydroxocobalamin form of sublingual B-12. My genetic testing showed me that the hydroxocobalamin form would be more beneficial to me than the methylcobalamin form I have noticed that the methyl version is overstimulating for me. B-12 helps me with all symptoms, including brain fog which is my main problem. Even though I and other CFS patients may not be B-12 deficient, I have read that most CFS sufferers will respond favorably to B-12. On the y

From the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by?Mark Twain:? Once I said to myself it would be a thousand times better for Jim to be a slave at home where his family was, as long as he??d got to be a slave, and so I??d better write a letter to Tom Sawyer and tell him to tell Miss Watson where he was. But I soon give up that notion for two things: she??d be mad and disgusted at his rascality and ungratefulness for leaving her, and so she??d sell him straight down the river again and if she didn??t, ever

Letter to the editor of Fog City Journal
To the editor, Thanks for your ongoing coverage of local politics. Even when it is completely wrong, I get a kick out of it. Today was no exception. You wrongly suggested that I opposed a medical marijuana club in North Beach that came before me at the Board of Appeals. The Planning Commission had rejected the club??s permit, and the case was before us on appeal. At that meeting, I expressed my strong support for medical marijuana clubs. In the past I have also expressed my concern the new p
